You’ve definitely seen that trend claiming 2026 will be the new 2016. And you might be hoping the new year will remind you of your old self—a time when things felt simpler and perhaps more innocent. But does astrology actually agree with this trend?
2026 as a partial reversal of 2016
Both in 2016 and 2026, the lunar nodes are in Pisces and Virgo. In 2016, the North Node was in Virgo and the South Node in Pisces. Back then, we were asked to set aside the more “difficult” Pisces traits, such as illusions, lack of emotional boundaries, and self-victimization. We had to adopt Virgo’s positive qualities instead—order, diligence, attention to detail, and clarity of interpretation.
However, 2026 brings a reversal. This year, the North Node will be in Pisces and the South Node in Virgo. The North Node in Pisces teaches us to create new forms of magic, to trust our visions and intuition, while the South Node in Virgo shows that there is no point in overanalyzing details or trying to plan for everything.
2026 completes the lessons you received in 2016. Because in 2016 you mastered something that, even ten years later, can lead to even greater miracles.
Air and Fire
One similarity between 2016 and 2026 is the accumulation of planets in air and fire signs. From October until the end of 2016, Jupiter was in Libra, while throughout the year Saturn was in Sagittarius and Uranus in Aries. In the first two months of 2026, Saturn and Neptune enter Aries, Uranus moves into Gemini, and in June Jupiter will enter Leo.
Air allows us to find the right words, to communicate, to manage information. Fire is passion and action. Both years are a mix of passion and reason.
This year, expect to revisit the words and thought patterns you had ten years ago. Something from that time may ignite you again—this time in a more mature version of yourself.
Does history repeat itself?
Ten years ago, Neptune was still in Pisces. That was when we started seeing social media filters, the first influencers, and even people we knew through rose-colored glasses. We fantasized about lives very different from the ones we are living now.
This year, the planet of fantasy and glamour leaves Pisces and moves into Aries, dissolving the fog that prevented us from seeing things as they truly are. The way we channel imagination changes—it becomes more concrete and substantial.
So yes, 2026 won’t be exactly the new 2016 the way you imagined it. Because back then, there were more blurred areas in your life compared to now.
The nostalgia of 2016 as a magical force
Essentially, 2026 carries nostalgic planetary energies that can serve as an invitation to reclaim 2016. Jupiter will remain in Cancer until June 30, 2026—a transit that highlights the power of memory and the union of past and present. Memory returns so you can enrich it with new versions of yourself.
The world has changed a lot since 2016—and so have you. The point is not to replicate exactly what you did ten years ago, but to use memory to create something that speaks to your soul.
